**San Francisco 49ers Hit With Injury Bug As Training Camp Opens**

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The San Francisco 49ers, looking to rebound from an injury-riddled 2024 season, will begin training camp with several key players sidelined. The team announced Friday that six players will start on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list, while two others are on the active/non-football injury (NFI) list.

The receiving corps is particularly affected, with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and promising second-year player Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) both starting on PUP. Pearsall’s placement is a setback after Coach Kyle Shanahan previously indicated he’d be ready for camp. Aiyuk’s status for the regular season opener is uncertain as he recovers from a Week 7 torn ACL.

Joining them on the PUP list are offensive lineman Andre Dillard (ankle), defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos (knee), safety Malik Mustapha (knee), and linebacker Curtis Robinson (knee). Offensive lineman Ben Bartch and safety George Odum will begin camp on the NFI list.

While on the PUP or NFI lists, these players count towards the 90-man roster and can participate in team meetings. They can be activated at any time during training camp. The 49ers’ full squad reports on Tuesday as they prepare for the upcoming season.
