**NEW YORK** – Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, has issued a powerful call to action following her termination as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. In a memo obtained by the Associated Press, Comey implored her colleagues to stand firm against “abuses of power” and resist succumbing to fear.

Comey’s firing comes amidst a reported purge of Justice Department employees involved in cases that President Trump disagreed with, including those related to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigations into Trump. While the Trump administration has not provided an official reason for her dismissal, sources suggest her connection to her father, a frequent critic of the President, made her position vulnerable. James Comey was fired by Trump early in his first term, in part because he oversaw an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential race.
