**Hollywood, CA** – FX has unveiled the trailer for “Necaxa,” a new docuseries executive produced by Eva Longoria, Ryan Reynolds, and Rob Mac (formerly Rob McElhenney). The series, a spinoff of the popular “Welcome to Wrexham,” will delve into the world of Liga MX’s Club Necaxa, a Mexican football team striving to reclaim its former glory.
Longoria, who introduces the trailer, emphasizes the significance of football in Mexico, stating, “Football in Mexico is a language. It’s the national language.” The bilingual docuseries promises a gripping look at the team’s journey through turbulent times, showcasing staff changes, career-threatening injuries, and the team’s unwavering determination to bring hope to the city of Aguascalientes.
“Once a powerhouse in Mexican football, Club Necaxa has spent decades navigating instability,” the series description reveals. Despite the team’s fluctuating fortunes, a dedicated fanbase remains hopeful for the “Rayos” eventual resurgence.
While Reynolds and Mac are executive producers, the trailer hints at Longoria taking center stage. The duo even makes a playful cameo attempting to speak Spanish, underscoring Longoria’s leading role in the project.
“Necaxa” is produced by Hyphenate Media Group (Longoria’s company), More Better Productions (Mac’s), Maximum Effort (Reynolds’s), and 3 Arts Entertainment.
