**Yosemite National Park, CA** – A woman’s death in Yosemite National Park is more than meets the eye, as teased in the trailer for Netflix’s upcoming limited series, “UNTAMED.” While initial reports suggest a fatal fall from El Capitan, the series follows Agent Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana, who suspects foul play.
Turner, a haunted park ranger more comfortable in the wilderness than with people, teams up with his new partner, Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago), who believes the victim was running from something. The mystery surrounding the woman’s death becomes the central focus of the series, created by Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) and Elle Smith (“The Marsh King’s Daughter”).
Bana, who also executive produced the series, was chosen for his ability to portray depth and internal struggle through subtle expressions. As described by the creators, Turner grapples with past failures while trying to solve the current case and bring closure to the victim’s family.
The investigation plunges Turner into the darker corners of Yosemite, exposing an itinerant tent village and a rogue wildlife management officer (Wilson Bethel), with whom he shares a complex history. The vastness of Yosemite, highlighted by Chief Park Ranger Paul Souter (Sam Neill), presents a daunting challenge, with nearly a million acres of wilderness providing ample hiding places for secrets and potential killers.
“UNTAMED” explores the untamed nature of both the wilderness and the human spirit, stripping away modern conveniences and forcing characters to rely on their instincts. The series premieres on Netflix on July 17th.
