**Amtrak’s Borealis Line Hits New Ridership Milestone, Exceeds 250,000 Passengers**

**[City, State] – July 17, 2024** – Amtrak’s Borealis line, connecting Milwaukee, Chicago, and the Twin Cities, has continued its impressive performance, surpassing 250,000 passengers over the Fourth of July weekend, the rail service announced on July 15. This milestone comes less than two months after the line exceeded 200,000 riders, solidifying its position as a popular and essential transportation option in the region.

“The Borealis continues to be a success story in Wisconsin and our partner states,” said Wisconsin Transportation Secretary Kristina Boardman in a statement. “This 250,000-rider milestone clearly demonstrates the need for safe, reliable, and efficient passenger rail travel options.”

Launched in May 2024, the Borealis route saw immediate success, carrying over 18,500 passengers in its first month. The line serves 13 stops, sharing stations with the Empire Builder between St. Paul and Milwaukee, and the Hiawatha line between Milwaukee and Chicago.
