Fri Jul 18 11:00:00 UTC 2025: **Here’s a summary:**

Pittsburgh and surrounding areas experienced significant flash flooding yesterday, with some areas receiving over 4 inches of rain. While most of the region will see a break from the rain today, areas south of I-70, particularly West Virginia, remain under a flood watch. The highest chance of rain for those areas is after 6 PM today and continuing through early tomorrow morning, with isolated storms possible earlier in the day. A weak boundary lingering in the area will contribute to the rainfall. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s with partly cloudy skies and moderate humidity. Friday is expected to be the best day of the week with lower humidity and isolated showers. Rain is expected Saturday and Sunday afternoons with highs in the low 80s.

**Pittsburgh Area Recovers from Flash Floods; More Rain Possible South of I-70**

**Pittsburgh, PA – July 17, 2025** – The Pittsburgh region is drying out after a “First Alert Day” yesterday brought significant flash flooding to the area. Some communities, particularly around Tarentum, saw rainfall totals exceeding 4 inches.

While most of Western Pennsylvania will see a respite from the heavy rain today, forecasters are warning residents south of Interstate 70 to remain vigilant. The entire state of West Virginia remains under a flood watch until midnight.

“The highest chance for rain south of I-70 arrives after 6 PM this evening and continues through around 3 AM tomorrow,” said CBS Pittsburgh Meteorologist Ron Smiley. “We could see isolated storms during the day as well. A weak weather boundary lingering in the area is the primary driver.”

Today’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-80s with moderate humidity. Winds will be out of the southwest at around 10 mph.

Looking ahead, Friday is shaping up to be the most pleasant day of the week, with lower humidity and just a slight chance of isolated showers. The weekend will bring afternoon rain on both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the low 80s.
