**WASHINGTON D.C. (CNN) -** Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have directly addressed persistent rumors surrounding their marriage in a new episode of Michelle Obama’s podcast, “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.”
In the candid conversation, Barack Obama joked, “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while,” seemingly acknowledging the rumors that have circulated in recent months. The speculation intensified after Michelle Obama’s absence from several public appearances, including Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.
Michelle Obama firmly dispelled the rumors, stating, “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I’ve thought about quitting on my man. And we’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
The Obamas also delved into the need for a greater focus on nurturing young men, highlighting the political implications of neglecting this demographic. Barack Obama pointed out the growing appeal to younger men by figures who capitalize on feelings of being unseen and disrespected, often blaming women or other groups.
“If you’re not thinking about what’s happening to boys and how they are being raised, then that can actually hurt women,” Barack Obama said.
He explained how a neglect of investing in boys can lead them to be more receptive to divisive rhetoric, ultimately impacting broader political trends.
The Obamas, married since 1992 and parents to daughters Malia and Sasha, emphasized the importance of intentionally investing in both girls and boys to ensure a healthy and equitable society.
