Thu Jul 17 14:24:43 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Hit by Heavy Rainfall, Causing Traffic Chaos

**Hyderabad, July 17, 2025:** A sudden downpour swept through Hyderabad on Thursday evening, bringing welcome relief from the recent heatwave but also causing significant disruption to traffic and daily life.

Heavy rainfall, which began in the early evening, quickly led to waterlogging in several key areas of the city, including Alugaddabavi, Rethibowli, Nanal Nagar, Yousufguda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Paradise, Parade Ground and Tarnaka. Commuters found themselves navigating flooded roads and facing considerable delays during the evening rush hour.

According to data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), Uppal experienced the highest rainfall with 66.8 mm, followed by Nacharam (61 mm) and Mettuguda (59.8 mm). Significant rainfall was also recorded across other areas of the city and Secunderabad.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) were deployed to manage the traffic congestion and assist stranded motorists. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution while travelling and to avoid areas known to be prone to flooding.

While the rain provided a much-needed respite from the oppressive heat, the ensuing chaos highlights the city’s ongoing challenges with drainage infrastructure and the impact of heavy rainfall events.
