Wed Jul 16 11:22:17 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Government to Revise Engineering Entrance Exam Normalization After Legal Setback
**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, July 16, 2025** – The Kerala government plans to re-implement its revised normalization process for the KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) state engineering entrance examination starting next academic year. This announcement comes after the Kerala High Court overturned the initial rank list, forcing a return to the previous normalization method.
Higher Education Minister R. Bindu stated that the government had opted not to appeal the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court, prioritizing the timely completion of the admission process. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines mandate admissions be finalized by August 14th. The government informed the Supreme Court that option registration and allotment would require at least 30 days.
However, Dr. Bindu clarified that the state is prepared to appeal the High Court’s verdict if AICTE allows for an extension of the current admission deadline. “The State also informed the apex court that the government is willing to appeal against the High Court’s verdict, “which affected the implementation of the revised prospectus”, if the AICTE is open to modifying the current admission deadline.
The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring fairness for all students through the revised normalization process, designed to address existing disparities in the evaluation system. “Dr. Bindu reiterated that the government had proposed to implement the revised mark normalisation process to ensure justice for all students. The reforms were intended to rectify disparities and were accordingly incorporated into the amended prospectus, she said.” The government had initially incorporated the changes into an amended prospectus.
