**Banerjee Alleges Conspiracy Against Bengali Voters Amid Voter List Revision**

**Kolkata:** West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised serious concerns about the upcoming Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in the state, claiming it is a veiled attempt to disenfranchise Bengali voters, particularly migrants and the underprivileged. Banerjee alleged that the Election Commission of India is acting under the influence of the BJP and expressed fears that the revision could be a backdoor implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Addressing a rain-soaked rally in Kolkata, Banerjee accused the BJP-led central and state governments of targeting Bengali migrants in other states, branding them as “Rohingya” and sending them to detention camps. She vehemently denied the BJP’s accusations of her government supporting Bangladeshi infiltrators, pointing out that border control falls under the purview of the Union Home Ministry.

“They are saying they will check the 2002 voter list. So many people have died, so many babies have been born,” Banerjee stated, urging people to prioritize voter list verification even if it means skipping work. She warned that those whose names are not on the list could face imprisonment.

With assembly polls looming next year, Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is relying on its “outsider” narrative against the BJP, alleging a pattern of linguistic profiling and attempts to brand Bengali speakers as illegal immigrants. This strategy aims to solidify support by playing on Bengali identity and countering allegations of corruption and governance failures plaguing her administration.

However, BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition, has criticized Banerjee’s focus on Bengali identity as a smokescreen to protect illegal immigrants and divert attention from corruption scandals. He questioned why Banerjee does not hear the cries of Bengalis who have lost teaching jobs due to corruption, and why her government seeks out ‘outsiders’ to follow her orders.
