Wed Jul 16 04:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Trump Faces Growing MAGA Revolt Over Epstein File Secrecy

**WASHINGTON** – President Donald Trump is facing a growing rift within his own MAGA base as key allies in Congress publicly express dissatisfaction with his administration’s decision to withhold further files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a staunch Trump supporter, became the highest-ranking Republican to publicly break ranks, stating he supports greater transparency and wants to see more details released. His comments come as several House Republicans, including Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Lauren Boebert, are pressuring Johnson to use Congress’s power to investigate the matter, potentially including subpoenas to the Justice Department or the appointment of a special counsel.

“I’m for transparency,” Johnson said, echoing the calls from his own members. “We should put everything out there and let the people decide it.”

While Johnson affirmed his trust in Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, his public pressure marks a rare instance of friction between the former president and his loyal Congressional followers.

Other Republicans, like Reps. Ralph Norman and Chip Roy, have also voiced their concerns. Norman even voted with Democrats on a committee vote aimed at forcing the DOJ to release more information.

“The American people need to see what’s in there,” Norman stated, warning that Trump could be politically damaged by a lack of transparency.

The White House is reportedly attempting to downplay the issue and shift focus to other Trump administration priorities. Bondi, however, has defended the decision to withhold further files, stating that the administration’s previously released memo “speaks for itself.”

Despite the controversy, Trump maintains confidence in Bondi. He said, “The attorney general has handled that very well…really done a very good job.” He also added that Bondi has not told him that his name appears in the Epstein files.

The situation underscores a growing unease within the MAGA wing regarding the Epstein case and threatens to widen the existing divisions within Trump’s base. While Republicans have so far blocked Democratic efforts to force file release through legislation, the continued pressure from within the party suggests the issue will remain a significant challenge for the Trump administration.
