Wed Jul 16 03:40:00 UTC 2025: **Arozarena Added to AL All-Star Roster as Rodríguez Withdraws**
**DETROIT** – After a slow start to the season, Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena is heading to Atlanta for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard. Arozarena was named as a replacement for teammate Julio Rodríguez, who withdrew from the All-Star festivities to rest up for the second half of the season.
Arozarena, who struggled at the plate early on, has seen a significant turnaround in recent weeks. In his last 30 games, he is hitting .301 with seven home runs and 11 RBIs in his last 10 games, showcasing the offensive power that led to his previous All-Star selection in 2023.
“I had hope that I was going to be called, even if it was last minute,” Arozarena said.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson expressed excitement for Arozarena. “It’s been really cool to see just the whole clubhouse really erupting in those announcements and everybody feeling really happy for each other,” Wilson said. “And Randy with a big smile today. I thought [it was] just great news for him, and for the team, too.”
Arozarena attributes his improved performance to a change in his preparation, focusing on more tee work and batting cage sessions. This mirrors his approach during the 2020 postseason with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he earned ALCS MVP honors.
Rodríguez’s decision to withdraw was praised by Wilson as a “mature decision” that will benefit the team in the long run. Arozarena will now join Mariners Andrés Muñoz, Bryan Woo, and starting catcher Cal Raleigh at the All-Star Game, which will be held Tuesday in Atlanta.
