**LOS ANGELES, CA** – In a major shakeup in the Western Conference, three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal is set to join the Los Angeles Clippers after reaching a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns. Beal has agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal with a player option for the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN’s Mark Bartelstein.
The move comes after a disappointing two-year stint in Phoenix, where injuries and team underperformance plagued Beal’s tenure. Beal averaged 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds, shooting efficiently from the field, but only played in 106 games. “The crux of the decision for Beal and his representation was finding the best basketball fit, first and foremost,” Bartelstein told ESPN.
Beal will give back $13.9 million to complete the buyout with the Suns, who are expected to waive-and-stretch the remaining salary to gain increased team-building flexibility. This maneuver allows the Suns to escape the first and second apron restrictions, opening up access to more tradeable draft picks and a portion of the mid-level exception. The Suns, under owner Mat Ishbia, have undergone a complete roster overhaul after trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets.
For the Clippers, Beal provides a significant offensive boost and fits naturally alongside stars Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. With recent additions like Brook Lopez and John Collins, Los Angeles is clearly aiming for a championship run. Beal, who spent his first 11 seasons with the Washington Wizards, is expected to clear waivers and officially join the Clippers shortly.
