**Veteran Actor and Filmmaker Dheeraj Kumar Passes Away at 80**
**Mumbai, India** – The Indian film industry is mourning the loss of veteran actor, producer, and director Dheeraj Kumar, who passed away at the age of 80. Kumar had been admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to pneumonia and his condition deteriorated, leading to his death on Tuesday, July 16th, according to family statements.
Kumar was a prominent figure in Hindi and Punjabi cinema, leaving behind a legacy of impactful work spanning decades. He made his acting debut in the 1970 film “Didaar” and went on to appear in over 20 films including hits like “Heera Panna,” “Roti Kapda Aur Makaan,” and “Kranti.” He was also a finalist in a talent show alongside Rajesh Khanna and Subhash Ghai. In addition to his work in Hindi cinema, Kumar acted in 21 Punjabi films between 1970 and 1984.
Beyond acting, Kumar established himself as a successful producer and director. He gained widespread recognition as the director of the popular mythological television series “Om Namah Shivay,” which aired on Doordarshan in 1997.
