**Paranormal Investigator Dies During “Annabelle” Doll Tour**
**Gettysburg, PA –** Dan Rivera, 54, a paranormal investigator with the New England Society for Psychic Research, was found dead in his Gettysburg hotel room Sunday night while on tour with the infamous doll believed to have inspired the “Annabelle” horror films. Rivera was traveling the country with the Raggedy Ann doll, known as “America’s most haunted object,” as part of his “Devils on the Run” tour.
According to the Hanover Evening Sun, first responders were called to the hotel room but were unable to revive Rivera. His official cause of death has not yet been released.
Rivera, a US Army veteran, had gained recent viral fame on TikTok documenting his paranormal tour and experiences with the doll. All three of his Gettysburg shows were sold out.
The New England Society for Psychic Research released a statement expressing their grief. “We are heartbroken and still processing this loss. Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him.”
The Raggedy Ann doll’s history is steeped in alleged paranormal activity. In the 1970s, the doll was given to a nursing student named Donna. Donna and her roommate claimed the doll would move on its own and leave eerie notes. A friend, Lou, also reported being attacked and scratched after a terrifying encounter with the doll.
Donna and her mother consulted a medium, who said the doll was possessed by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. Eventually, the Warrens (who inspired The Conjuring films) were called to investigate, leading to the doll’s current reputation. The real Annabelle is now kept in a locked glass case and has been blamed for a fire that destroyed Nottoway Plantation in Louisiana decades ago.
