**Over 40 Ice Cream Companies Pledge to Ditch Artificial Colors by 2027 in Support of “Make America Healthy Again” Initiative**

**[CITY, STATE]** – In a sweet move toward healthier options, over 40 ice cream companies have committed to removing artificial colors from their products by the end of 2027. The announcement was made at a press conference on Monday, July 14, by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brook Rollins, U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr. Mary Makary. The initiative is being spearheaded by the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and supported by American dairy farmers.

“Each one of these endeavors helps families make better choices and pursue healthier lives,” said Sec. Rollins in a statement to Fox News Digital. “I appreciate IDFA members for spearheading this new initiative and finding ways to promote President Trump’s Make America Healthy Again agenda.”

IDFA CEO Michael Dykes highlighted the ongoing efforts of the dairy industry to improve nutrition, noting previous success in reducing sugar in school milk by 60%. “This announcement today represents over 40 individual ice cream companies,” Dykes said. “It’s the single largest effort of its kind.”

Sec. Kennedy commended the food manufacturers, stating that with this addition, “we now have about 35% of the American food industry that has made commitments” to remove artificial coloring, in addition to the 35-40% that is already organic, healthy, and chemical-free.

Dairy farmers from Michigan, Illinois, Idaho, and Indiana were present to voice their support for the initiative. Sam Schwoeppe, a fifth-generation dairy farmer from Indiana, shared a personal anecdote highlighting the importance of good nutrition, particularly the benefits of whole milk and dairy products.

Commissioner Makary also announced that the FDA will be approving another natural food dye: gardenia blue. The FDA recently approved other natural-source colors in May, including galdieria extract blue, butterfly pea flower extract, and calcium phosphate.

The “Make America Healthy Again” movement is gaining traction at the local level, with ice cream parlors like Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream in South Carolina and King Cone in Wisconsin already removing artificial dyes from their offerings.

The move towards eliminating artificial colors in ice cream aligns with the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines, which emphasize the importance of consuming dairy products as a good source of essential nutrients such as calcium, potassium, and vitamin D.

“The sickness of American kids is not a willpower problem. It’s not their fault,” said Makary. “We can do things that will make the food supply healthier, one step at a time.”
