**Mariners Rookie Cole Young Crushes First MLB Home Run at Yankee Stadium**
**NEW YORK, NY** – Seattle Mariners rookie infielder Cole Young etched his name into baseball lore Wednesday night, hitting his first Major League home run at the iconic Yankee Stadium. The No. 3 Mariners prospect launched a two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning off New York Yankees reliever Jonathan Loáisiga.
The blast, a 361-foot shot pulled into the right field seats, cut the Yankees’ lead to 9-6, which ultimately held as the final score. The home run came off a curveball just below the zone. While Young took advantage of the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium, it would have been a home run in only one other park: George M. Steinbrenner Field, which has the same dimensions as Yankee Stadium and is the Yankees’ spring training facility. The field is being used by the Tampa Bay Rays this season due to damages to Tropicana Field from Hurricane Milton.
The milestone moment came in Young’s 32nd game and 115th plate appearance since being called up to the majors on May 31st. Prior to his promotion, Young was hitting .277 with five home runs at Triple-A Tacoma.
In other Mariners news, Julio Rodríguez homered for the third consecutive game, and the team recently learned they hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft after luck in the draft lottery.
