**THOOTHUKUDI, July 13, 2025** – Thoothukudi District Collector K. Elambahavath today inaugurated the P. Soosaiammal memorial building at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Kovilpatti. The inauguration ceremony, held earlier today, celebrated the completion of the building thanks in part to the significant contribution from the school’s Head Master, who donated ₹10 lakh from a cash prize she received last year.
Collector Elambahavath praised the Head Master’s dedication and noted the collective efforts of the school staff in contributing to the building’s construction. He also commended the school for its improved student enrolment and pass percentage, attributing these successes to the dedication of the staff and the students’ commitment to higher education.
“The teachers are actively supporting the students, and the results speak for themselves,” stated the Collector. He further announced that land has been allocated for the construction of another new building and promised the provision of all necessary infrastructure facilities to the school.
The event was attended by key officials including Directorate of School Education S. Kannappan, Kovilpatti Revenue Divisional Officer Mahalashmi, and other dignitaries. The inauguration marks a significant step forward in providing enhanced educational facilities for girls in Kovilpatti.
