Mon Jul 14 15:10:13 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Launches State-Wide E-Waste Collection Drive

**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – July 14, 2025** – The Kerala government is set to launch a special state-wide initiative aimed at collecting electronic waste from households and businesses, commencing this Tuesday. The drive, spearheaded by Haritha Karma Sena volunteers, will initially focus on municipal corporations before expanding to other regions.

Minister for Local Self Governments, M.B. Rajesh, will officially inaugurate the program at a ceremony in Neyyattinkara at 11 a.m.

The special drive is a significant step up from the existing bi-annual e-waste collection efforts conducted by local bodies. The government aims to create a more effective system for collecting and scientifically disposing of e-waste, addressing growing concerns about environmental impact.

The initiative, implemented by the Clean Kerala Company in collaboration with Suchitwa Mission, local self-government institutions, Haritha Karma Sena, Kudumbashree, schools, colleges, residence associations, and electronic retailers, will ensure that recyclable e-waste receives a fixed, pre-determined price, as published by the Clean Kerala Company.

A comprehensive list of items considered e-waste has been released, including CRT televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, computers, laptops, mobile phones, and various other obsolete or non-functional electronic devices.

The government hopes this comprehensive and collaborative approach will lead to a cleaner and more sustainable future for Kerala by ensuring the responsible management of electronic waste.
