**Eluru Police Recover ₹1.64 Lakh for Cybercrime Victim, Urge Caution Against Online Fraud**

**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – July 14, 2025 (9:00 PM IST)** – Eluru Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Shiva Kishore has successfully recovered ₹1.64 lakh for Prathipati Srinivas Rao, a resident of Kaikalur, who fell victim to a cybercrime on May 13th, 2025. Mr. Srinivas Rao lost the money after clicking a suspicious link on his mobile phone.

Upon realizing the fraud, Mr. Srinivas Rao immediately froze his bank account and filed a complaint with the Kaikalur Town police. Circle Inspector (CI) Krishna swiftly alerted the cybercrime wing, who tracked the fraudulent transactions and recovered the entire amount from the perpetrators’ accounts, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar.

In a public statement, SP Pratap Shiva Kishore emphasized the importance of online safety, urging citizens to avoid clicking on unknown links, responding to suspicious calls or messages, and sharing One-Time Passwords (OTPs). He also advised victims of cybercrime to immediately contact the police and their bank, stating, “If the victims approach the police and the bank officials immediately, investigation officers will respond quickly, get more leads related to the offence and can detect the online frauds.”

Authorities encourage anyone receiving suspicious calls or links, or experiencing financial loss due to cyber fraud, to dial 1930. This success highlights the effectiveness of swift action and cooperation between victims, law enforcement, and financial institutions in combating the growing threat of cybercrime.
