Sun Jul 13 13:20:52 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Celebrates Sweeping National Awards for ‘One District-One Product’ Initiative
**PENUKONDA, Sri Sathya Sai District – July 13, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is celebrating a resounding success in the national “One District-One Product” (ODOP) initiative, securing an impressive ten national awards. Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Textiles, S. Savitha, announced the achievement at a press conference held here today, attributing the state’s success to the continued support of the coalition government.
Out of the ten awards, seven recognized the excellence of Andhra Pradesh’s handloom and handicraft products, while two were awarded to the agriculture sector, and one in the inter-State category. Winning products include the renowned Bobbili veena from Vizianagaram, Etikoppaka toys from Anakapalli, the exquisite Peddapuram and Chirala silk saris from Kakinada and Bapatla respectively, the elegant Venkatagiri saris from Tirupati, the intricate Narsapur lace from West Godavari, and the opulent Dharmavaram silk saris from Sri Sathya Sai district. Guntur chilli and Srikakulam cashew nuts also received national recognition for their agricultural contributions.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Monday, July 14th, where Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will present the honors. District Collectors and prominent artisans from the winning districts are expected to attend the prestigious event.
In addition to the awards celebration, Minister Savitha unveiled the launch of a free power scheme for weavers, set to commence on August 7th. This initiative will provide 200 units of free power for loom owners and 500 units for pit loom operators, offering much-needed relief to the weaving community. The disbursement of benefits to thrift societies will also coincide with the scheme’s launch.
Looking ahead, the State government intends to expand the ODOP initiative to encompass other unique products from Andhra Pradesh, including the Kadapa banana, Chittoor tomato, and Anantapur groundnut. This demonstrates a continued commitment to promoting local industries and showcasing the diverse agricultural and artisanal strengths of the state.
