**London, UK** – Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) frontman Jeff Lynne has been forced to cancel his highly anticipated performance at BST Hyde Park on Sunday night, billed as the final show of the band’s farewell “Over and Out” tour. Citing a “systemic infection,” the 77-year-old singer-songwriter will be unable to perform, marking a disappointing end to the tour and potentially Lynne’s live performance career.

According to a statement from BST Hyde Park, Lynne is under the care of doctors who advised against performing and ruled out any possibility of rescheduling. The entire concert, which was to feature performances by Steve Winwood and the Doobie Brothers alongside ELO, has been cancelled. Ticket holders will receive full refunds.

The cancellation follows Lynne’s last-minute decision to axe a Manchester concert earlier this week. He had recently performed in his hometown of Birmingham, but was unable to play guitar due to a broken wrist sustained in a recent taxi accident in London.

“Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to report that he will not be able to perform at tomorrow’s BST Hyde Park show,” the statement read. “The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff’s mind today – and while he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time.”

Lynne had previously expressed his enthusiasm for ending his career with the Hyde Park performance, stating it felt like the “perfect place” for a final show. The concert was intended to cap off a career spanning over five decades, including numerous No. 1 albums with ELO, which Lynne co-founded in 1970.

The future of Jeff Lynne’s live performances remains uncertain, marking a potentially definitive end to his time on stage. He reformed ELO in 2014 after a long hiatus, rebranding as Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra following a previous split in 1986.
