Sun Jul 13 22:55:47 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Devastation Continues as Fuel Shortages Threaten UN Operations

**Gaza City** – Israeli forces have intensified their bombardment of Gaza, hitting a market and a water distribution point on Sunday, resulting in at least 95 Palestinian deaths. The overall death toll from the conflict has now surpassed 58,000, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, with women and children comprising over half of the casualties.

The Israeli attack on a Gaza City market claimed at least 17 lives, including prominent doctor Ahmed Qandil. In the Nuseirat refugee camp, a missile strike on a water collection point killed at least 10 people, including seven children waiting for water.

The Israeli military stated the Nuseirat strike targeted a Palestinian fighter but went astray due to a technical malfunction. Experts question the explanation, citing a pattern of civilian harm and calling for more precision in Israeli military operations.

Beyond the immediate casualties, Gaza faces a dire humanitarian crisis. The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) reported another infant death due to malnutrition, bringing the total number of children who died due to malnutrion to 67 since the war began. UNICEF reports over 5,800 children diagnosed with malnutrition in June.

Adding to the crisis, UN agencies, including UNICEF, WHO, and UNRWA, warned that critical operations like hospitals, water systems, and aid delivery could grind to a halt due to a severe fuel shortage imposed by the Israeli blockade. “This means no health services, no clean water, and no capacity to deliver aid,” the agencies said in a joint statement, pleading for sufficient fuel to be allowed into Gaza.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Government Media Office accused Israel and security contractors of intentionally attacking civilians at aid distribution points.

Efforts to broker a ceasefire continue in Doha, Qatar. US President Trump expressed hope for progress, while his envoy remained “hopeful.” However, a US-backed 60-day ceasefire proposal remains stalled due to disagreements. Palestinian Islamic Jihad accused Israel of avoiding key conditions for a lasting agreement.

Domestically, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing scrutiny as his aide is possibly going to be indicted over allegations he leaked classified military information. The allegations suggest the information was leaked to manipulate public opinion regarding ceasefire efforts.
