**Thiruvananthapuram, July 14, 2025 (The Hindu) -** A small fire erupted in a building housing the fast-track POCSO court in Kattakada on Monday night, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Services. The fire originated on the third floor of the three-story building, which serves as a storeroom for the court.
Firefighters received the alarm shortly after 9 PM and had to force entry to the third floor. The blaze was concentrated in a single room containing paperwork and material evidence. While the fire itself was relatively small, heavy smoke posed a significant challenge, requiring firefighters to use breathing apparatus.
The court had closed for the day at 5 PM. According to the Fire and Rescue Services, there were no immediate signs of a short circuit. Police and the POCSO court judge were present at the scene.
The incident is under investigation. The extent of damage to documents and evidence is currently being assessed.
