Sun Jul 13 16:36:32 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Plant Fair Wraps Up, Minister Urges Environmental Consciousness

**Bengaluru, July 13, 2025** – The three-day “Sasya Santhe” (plant fair), organized by the Regional Horticulture Research and Extension Centre, University of Horticultural Sciences (UHS), concluded yesterday on the GKVK Campus in Bengaluru, drawing a crowd of approximately 50,000 attendees. The fourth edition of the event, which began on July 11th, featured over 100 stalls showcasing a diverse array of fruit, flower, and ornamental saplings, along with plantation supplies, medicinal plants, and vegetable seeds.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda emphasized the urgent need for greater environmental awareness. “The environment satisfies human needs, but we must understand the importance of limiting our exploitation to avoid greed,” he stated. “This is our small contribution to environmental conservation. Attending the Sasya Santhe and buying plants is not enough; we should all care about the environment. We must consider the impact of weather events like floods and droughts on future generations and consciously work towards conservation for their benefit.”

Vishnuvardhana, Vice-Chancellor of UHS Bagalakote, delivered the presidential remarks and announced plans for a new “mega nursery” on the UHS GKVK campus. This nursery will offer a comprehensive selection of quality seedlings, grafted plants, seeds, accessories, and bio-fertilizers. The UHS also plans to provide training in areas such as urban horticulture, vertical gardening, terrace gardening, kitchen gardening, and mushroom production.
