**Gurugram, India** – The shocking murder of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav allegedly by her father, Deepak Yadav, has sent shockwaves through the Gurugram community. Following the shooting, one of Radhika’s close friends and fellow tennis player, Himaanshika Singh Rajput, shared an emotional video on social media, alleging that Deepak Yadav had controlled every aspect of Radhika’s life.
Himaanshika claimed that Deepak subjected Radhika to constant criticism and stifled her independence, reportedly shaming her for wearing shorts, talking to boys, and living life on her own terms. “He’d made her life miserable for years with his controlling, constant criticism,” Himaanshika stated in her post.
According to police reports, Radhika was shot five times at the family’s residence in Sector 57, Gurugram, with four bullets striking her. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Himaanshika dismissed rumours suggesting a communal motive, emphasizing Radhika’s isolation and restricted life. Police have also confirmed they are not investigating the case as a communal or interfaith issue.
Deepak Yadav has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Police recovered the weapon and ammunition from the scene. Vijay Yadav, Deepak’s brother, told reporters that Deepak had confessed and expressed remorse. “He said he should be hanged,” Vijay said.
Police also revealed a WhatsApp conversation between Radhika and her coach, Ajay Yadav, where she allegedly expressed a desire to leave home. Radhika had been considering a career change after a shoulder injury, exploring opportunities as a social media influencer and coach. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, despite Radhika’s assurances that she wouldn’t bring shame to the family, her father remained unhappy.
