Sat Jul 12 19:10:00 UTC 2025: ## U.S. 50 Resurfacing Resumes at Lake Tahoe, Expect Delays

**STATELINE, Nev. -** Motorists traveling on U.S. 50 along Lake Tahoe’s east shore should prepare for lane reductions and shifts starting July 13, as the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) resumes its highway repaving project. The project, which began in April, was paused for the Fourth of July holiday and the American Century Championship.

Construction will continue through October 2025 and again from April through October 2026. The resurfacing will cover over 13 miles of U.S. 50, stretching from the Spooner Summit Trailhead near the U.S. 50/State Route 28 intersection to the Nevada/California border at Stateline. While the resurfacing will improve driving conditions, motorists should anticipate weekday overnight lane closures throughout the duration of the project.

“We’re asking drivers to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time,” said NDOT in a statement. “This resurfacing is critical to ensure a safer, smoother drive for the approximately 26,000 vehicles that utilize this corridor daily.”

The project aims to address sections of the highway that haven’t been fully resurfaced since 2007. NDOT emphasizes that the construction will not reduce the number of highway lanes or involve major turn lane or intersection reconfigurations.

The U.S. 50 Tahoe East Shore Corridor Management Plan, developed with public and stakeholder input, will serve as a blueprint for future highway safety and mobility enhancements.
