**Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Arrested on Battery Charge Amidst Domestic Dispute Allegations**
**Miami Beach, FL** – WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis, 30, was arrested in Miami Beach on Friday morning on a misdemeanor battery charge. The arrest stems from an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend of four years.
This latest incident follows closely on the heels of an alleged assault on the mother of two of his three children on Father’s Day, June 15th, outside her home in Doral, Florida. According to a Doral Police Department incident report, the ex-girlfriend stated that a verbal argument over personal matters and Davis’ insecurities regarding their son’s sexuality escalated after Davis arrived to pick up his children. The report alleges that Davis punched her in the back of the head and slapped her in the face after she put the children in his car. After she regained custody of the children, Davis allegedly revved his engine in a threatening manner before she was able to remove herself from the situation. She subsequently sought medical treatment at a local hospital. The police report also noted approximately ten previous undocumented physical altercations between Davis and the ex-girlfriend.
Davis was taken into custody in Miami Beach and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is due in court on July 29th.
This arrest adds to Davis’s long history of legal troubles, which include prior domestic violence accusations and numerous traffic violations. In December 2022, he was arrested for allegedly striking a woman, though the charges were later dropped.
The arrest casts doubt on a potential rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. reportedly being considered for August, following a controversial majority draw between the two fighters in March. Premier Boxing Champions has yet to formally announce the fight, and its status is now uncertain.
