Sat Jul 12 22:10:00 UTC 2025: **Royals Power Surge Leads to Series Sweep Over Pirates**
**KANSAS CITY** – The Kansas City Royals completed a series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday night, fueled by a dominant power display led by rookie Jac Caglianone and veteran captain Salvador Perez. The Royals won 4-3.
Caglianone launched a monstrous two-run home run in the fourth inning, a Statcast-projected 466-foot blast that cleared three walls in center field at Kauffman Stadium. It was the longest home run by a Royals rookie since Statcast began tracking distances in 2015.
Not to be outdone, Perez contributed his 19th career multi-homer game, with his second home run of the night, in the eighth inning, providing the game-winning run.
Starting pitcher Kris Bubic praised the duo’s ability to deliver in clutch situations, highlighting Caglianone’s raw power and Perez’s consistent performance. Perez has also taken on a mentoring role for Caglianone, offering encouragement as the young player transitions to the major leagues.
The Royals have found their power stroke as of late, hitting 14 home runs in their last six games. They’ve hit multiple homers in three consecutive home games after not doing so in any of their previous 56 games at Kauffman Stadium dating back to last Aug. 25 vs. Philadelphia.
The team’s recent surge has them riding a four-game winning streak and looking to carry the momentum into the upcoming break. “Everybody’s having fun out there,” said Caglianone. “And I think it comes down to just playing for each other.”
