**Boeing and Air India Respond to Preliminary Report on Ahmedabad Plane Crash**

**Ahmedabad, India -** Boeing and Air India have issued statements following the release of a preliminary report by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) regarding the fatal Air India Flight 171 crash on June 12th. The crash, involving a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, resulted in the deaths of all 241 passengers and crew, as well as 30 individuals on the ground.

The AAIB’s 15-page report indicates that the plane’s engines experienced a mid-air fuel cutoff, a finding that is now the central focus of the investigation. Black box data suggests both engines’ fuel switches were activated, starving them of fuel shortly after takeoff. While one engine showed signs of restarting after the switches were returned to the “run” position, the other did not.

Boeing has expressed its support for the ongoing investigation and offered condolences to the families of the victims. “Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the passengers and crew on board Air India Flight 171, as well as everyone affected on the ground in Ahmedabad,” Boeing said in a statement. Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg added that he had spoken with Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran to offer Boeing’s full support.

Air India, now owned by Tata, has acknowledged the receipt of the preliminary report and affirmed its cooperation with the AAIB and other authorities. “Air India is working closely with stakeholders, including regulators. We continue to fully cooperate with the AAIB and other authorities as their investigation progresses,” the airline stated. Air India also reiterated its solidarity with the families of the victims and expressed its continued mourning for the losses.

The AAIB report also confirmed the deployment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) shortly after takeoff, indicating a complete loss of power. The aircraft began losing altitude before crashing outside the airport perimeter. The investigation is ongoing, with a focus on determining the cause of the fuel cutoff.
