**The Newtowne Players Present “Freaky Friday” at Three Notch Theatre**
LEXINGTON PARK, MD – The Newtowne Players are bringing the beloved story of “Freaky Friday” to the Three Notch Theatre, with performances running from this Friday through August 3rd. This musical adaptation, based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the popular Disney film, tells the story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies for a day.
Emma Querry, a 2022 Leonardtown High School graduate, stars as Ellie Blake, while Rachel Taylor, a 2009 Leonardtown graduate, plays her mother, Katherine. The production marks Querry’s Newtowne debut, while Taylor returns after her recent role as Cinderella in “Into The Woods.”
Director Erich Engel-Cope, making his directorial debut, praised the talent and energy of the cast. Audiences can expect plenty of humor and heartwarming moments as Katherine and Ellie navigate life in each other’s shoes, all while trying to prevent Katherine’s upcoming wedding to Mike Riley (played by Chad Mildenstein) from derailing. Engel-Cope noted the fortuitous timing of the show, opening on a Friday and closing just before the release of the “Freaky Friday” sequel.
