**Fan-Favorite Sitcom “The Neighborhood” Ending After Season 8 Due to Cost**
LOS ANGELES, CA – Despite consistently strong ratings, CBS’s hit sitcom “The Neighborhood” will conclude after its upcoming eighth season. The show, created by Jim Reynolds, has been a steady performer for the network since its debut in 2018, averaging 6.5 million viewers in its seventh season when including delayed viewing.
“The Neighborhood,” starring Cedric the Entertainer, Tichina Arnold, Max Greenfield, and Beth Behrs, explores the comedic culture clashes that arise when a Midwestern family moves into a predominantly Black neighborhood in Los Angeles.
The decision to end the series was driven by financial factors, sources say. “The Neighborhood” is a relatively expensive production, due to a large ensemble cast with veteran comedic actors.
CBS did explore potential spin-offs to keep the franchise alive, with a spin-off led by SNL and 30 Rock alum Tracey Morgan awaiting a premiere date at Paramount+.
While fans may be disappointed, actress Beth Behrs, who plays Gemma Johnson, has assured viewers that the final season will provide a proper send-off to the beloved characters. Showrunners and executive producers Bill Martin and Mike Schiff will have the opportunity to give each character in The Neighborhood a proper farewell.
Season 8 of “The Neighborhood” promises a unique twist, taking the canceled spin-off idea of Marty and Malcolm and flipping the show’s original premise on its head.
