Mon Jul 07 18:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Knoxville Braces for Hot and Humid End to July 4th Weekend, Isolated Storms Possible

**KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -** East Tennesseans can expect a hot and humid end to the July 4th weekend, with a chance of isolated afternoon storms. While mostly sunny skies are predicted for Sunday, July 6th, the air will be stagnant, and temperatures will climb into the 90s.

The WVLT First Alert Weather Team is advising residents to keep an eye on the sky and their WVLT First Alert Weather app after 4 p.m. for the possibility of localized, slow-moving storms bringing heavy downpours. These storms are expected to dissipate around sunset.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Chantal threatens flash flooding along the Carolina coast, from Myrtle Beach to Wilmington. Travelers to the area should be aware of potential disruptions.

“Grilling out tonight should be fine for most,” says the WVLT First Alert Weather Team, “unless you happen to be under one of those isolated rain cells.”

Monday marks the start of a work week characterized by increasing humidity and continued high temperatures. Expect a high of 94, feeling like 98, with a continued chance of afternoon storms through Wednesday.

Relief is on the horizon, however. Wednesday and Thursday bring the best chance for widespread rain this week, with a 40% chance of precipitation and a welcome cooldown back into the 80s.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the forecast calls for isolated to on-and-off rain and storms with temperatures hovering near 90 degrees.
