Tue Jul 08 05:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Love Island USA’s Yulissa Escobar Details Her Villa Exit Amid Racism Scandal
**Los Angeles, CA** – Former “Love Island USA” contestant Yulissa Escobar has finally broken her silence about the circumstances surrounding her abrupt departure from the villa in Season 7, following the resurfacing of a video featuring her using racial slurs.
Addressing speculation and fan theories in a TikTok video, Escobar clarified that she wasn’t “dragged out in the dark” but rather was informed of her exit during the day. She explained that the day began normally, with fellow Islander Ace Greene even making her breakfast. They were planning to “spice things up” in the villa with a game of spin the bottle.
However, things took a turn when she was called aside by a producer and asked to remove her microphone. “They just said that a video resurfaced on the internet and it’s not looking too good,” Escobar recounted, stating she was initially unaware of the specifics of the video or the nature of the controversy.
Viewers might recall Escobar was introduced as an OG Islander, only to vanish after just two episodes, with the show’s narrator briefly mentioning that she “left the villa”.
Escobar revealed she remained in a hotel for two days without her phone while awaiting the broadcast of her episodes. It was during this time that she was completely in the dark about the nature of the video. “I was literally in my hotel room losing my mind because I didn’t know what was going on. I just knew that there was a video out there,” she stated.
Acknowledging the resurfaced video, Escobar stated, “I get it. I said a word that I should have not said. But I wish I would have never said that. It is what it is. I can’t go back in time. I am sorry that I said that word.”
Fellow Season 7 contestant Jeremiah Brown previously stated he and the other islanders were only told that Escobar left for “personal reasons” and learned the true cause of her departure after receiving their phones back.
New episodes of “Love Island USA” air six days a week (excluding Wednesdays) on Peacock.
