**New Delhi:** Faced with delays in its indigenous fighter program and the acquisition of new multi-role fighters, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is reportedly considering acquiring a limited number of Russia’s Su-57 stealth fighters. This comes after Russia unveiled a two-seat variant of the Su-57, a design specifically aimed at export customers like India.

Sources suggest the two-seat Su-57 addresses several of India’s previous concerns with the platform, including ease of pilot training, enhanced mission management, and the capability to operate as a “drone mothership,” controlling unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
