**American Amanda Anisimova Advances to Wimbledon Quarterfinals, Carries Family Legacy**
**WIMBLEDON, ENGLAND – July 10, 2025** – Amanda Anisimova is the last American woman standing at Wimbledon as she heads into a highly anticipated quarterfinal match against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. This marks Anisimova’s best showing at Wimbledon since her quarterfinal appearance in 2022.
Tennis is a central part of the Anisimova family. Though neither of Anisimova’s parents, Olga and the late Konstantin, played tennis extensively themselves, they immersed themselves in the sport through their daughters, Amanda and older sister Maria, who played college tennis at the University of Pennsylvania.
Olga and Konstantin Anisimov emigrated from Russia to the United States in 1998. Konstantin was a financial professional, while Olga was an accountant. Upon arriving in the US, Olga and Konstantin dedicated themselves to their daughters’ tennis aspirations. Olga even established a tennis camp to foster a sense of community for Amanda.
Konstantin also served as Amanda’s first coach. He stressed the importance of realistic expectations and avoiding overtraining, especially as Amanda’s success grew.
Tragically, Konstantin passed away suddenly from a heart attack in August 2019. Anisimova called the experience “the worst thing that ever happened to me,” but she found the strength to return to the sport, carrying his memory with her.
“It never goes away,” Anisimova told the New York Times in 2020. “But you can’t change it, and you have to get back to life.”
Anisimova’s quarterfinal match promises to be a thrilling contest. Win or lose, she has already proven her resilience and dedication, making her family, and especially her late father, proud.
