Mon Jul 07 23:50:00 UTC 2025: ## “I Know What You Did Last Summer” Slashes Back with Original Cast and Fresh Blood

**Hollywood, CA** – Get ready for a nostalgia-fueled nightmare! “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the 1997 teen slasher that defined a generation, is returning to theaters with a brand new installment. While not a remake, the film promises a fresh story featuring a mix of new faces and returning favorites from the original cast.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, reprising her iconic role as Julie James, confirmed her involvement via Instagram, teasing fans with the message, “It’s never too late to go back. Julie James is returning. I know what you will be doing next summer!”

Freddie Prinze Jr. will also be back as Ray Bronson, now running a bar and wrestling with the lingering trauma from the original film’s events. Prinze Jr. has stated that his character will play a key role, emphasizing the vulnerabilities that arise when the past resurfaces.

Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson emphasizes that Hewitt and Prinze Jr.’s characters will serve as mentors, guiding a new generation of potential victims through a similar terrifying ordeal. “Their relationship is a key part of the film’s emotional arc,” Robinson stated. “It’s about both Ray and Julie finding catharsis through helping the younger cast in this film.”

However, don’t expect to see Sarah Michelle Gellar back on the big screen this time around. “I tried, okay? I harassed her!” Robinson jokingly confessed. “But she is dead.”

This time around, the spotlight will be on a new ensemble cast featuring Madelyn Cline (“Outer Banks”), Chase Sui Wonders (“The Studio”), Jonah Hauer-King (“The Little Mermaid”), Tyriq Withers (“Atlanta”), Sarah Pidgeon (“The Wilds”), and Austin Nichols (“One Tree Hill,” “Ray Donovan”).

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” hits theaters on July 18th, promising a bloody reunion with a classic horror franchise.
