**Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Urges Improvements in Secondary Hospital Services**

*Vijayawada, July 8, 2025* – Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Satya Kumar Yadav, has called for significant improvements in the functioning of secondary hospitals across the state. Addressing District Coordinators of Health Services (DCHSs) at a training program in Tadepalli today, the Minister acknowledged progress in healthcare infrastructure, including the introduction of Ultra Sonography (USG) services in 90 hospitals, the upgrade of 149 X-ray machines, the implementation of tele-radiology services in 89 hospitals, and the approval of 20 new dialysis centers.

However, Minister Yadav also expressed concern regarding low attendance among doctors and administrative staff and the poor utilization of the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. He noted that only 15.5% of hospital admissions in March 2024 were converted to pre-authorizations under the scheme. While the conversion rate has increased to 24% in June, the Minister challenged the DCHSs to raise this figure to 50% within the next two months.

“We need to ensure that the benefits of Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva reach a wider segment of the population,” stated the Minister. “This requires dedicated effort from all healthcare professionals at the secondary hospital level.”

The Minister also emphasized the importance of field visits for DCHSs to better understand and address ground-level challenges. He urged them to work diligently towards the goals of Viksit Bharat and Swarnandhra, reflecting the government’s commitment to comprehensive and accessible healthcare for all citizens. The training program, organized by the Director of Secondary Health, was attended by DCHSs from all 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
