**Madurai, July 6, 2025 (The Hindu)** – Authorities are carefully managing water levels in key dams in Southern India as the monsoon season progresses. As of today, the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam stands at 135.05 feet, well below the maximum permissible level of 142 feet. The inflow is currently measured at 756 cusecs, while the discharge is significantly higher at 2,067 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the Vaigai dam reports a water level of 60.60 feet, also below its maximum level of 71 feet. This dam is experiencing an inflow of 1,758 cusecs and a discharge of 969 cusecs.

The combined storage in Periyar credit was reported to be 8,611.71 mcft on Sunday, indicating a healthy water reserve.
