Sun Jul 06 13:40:00 UTC 2025: **Silverstone Shocker: Verstappen Steals Pole from McLarens in Thrilling Qualifying**

**Silverstone, UK** – Max Verstappen secured pole position for the 2025 British Grand Prix in a nail-biting qualifying session that saw Red Bull edge out the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Verstappen’s blistering lap of 1m 24.892s propelled him to the top spot, just 0.103s ahead of Piastri.

Piastri had initially set the pace, securing provisional pole, but a mistake on his final run cost him the chance to improve. Local hero Lando Norris will start third, also unable to beat his previous time.

Mercedes showed promise, with George Russell taking fourth and Lewis Hamilton fifth. Charles Leclerc claimed sixth ahead of Mercedes’ rising star, Kimi Antonelli, who qualified seventh. Ollie Bearman finished eighth, but a 10-place grid penalty will see him start further down the order.

The session was not without its drama. Q1 saw a red flag after Franco Colapinto crashed his Alpine, eliminating him from the session. Williams also had a day to forget, with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon failing to make it into Q3.

Verstappen described the windy conditions as tricky, but praised the Silverstone track as “proper” and enjoyable for qualifying.

The 2025 British Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 PM local time.
