**Madrid, Spain** – Real Madrid is reportedly open to selling Brazilian forward Rodrygo this summer, according to sources at the club. Despite official denials, *The Athletic* reports that both the club and new coach Xabi Alonso are willing to consider offers for the 24-year-old.
Rodrygo’s playing time has diminished recently, with the player only featuring for 23 minutes in three games under Alonso. Concerns about the player’s motivation in training also surfaced towards the end of last season under previous coach Carlo Ancelotti, leading to an agreement that Rodrygo wouldn’t be called up for Brazil’s recent matches.
Adding fuel to the fire, Rodrygo’s father and agent, Eric Goes, has publicly complained about the player’s situation at Madrid, citing the competition posed by Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham. These complaints have reportedly not been well-received within the club.
Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs monitoring Rodrygo’s situation and have already held preliminary talks with the player’s representatives. The Gunners are said to admire his versatility, believing he could contribute on both the left and right wings. Arsenal’s interest comes amid also considering other left-sided attackers like Anthony Gordon and Nico Williams, but any deal would come at a significant cost, potentially requiring them to sell players to balance their books.
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Santos for €40 million and initially made a strong impression, including a Champions League hat-trick. However, despite being a regular under Ancelotti and contributing to two Champions League triumphs, questions persist about his consistency, and he has expressed a preference for playing on the left flank, a position currently occupied by Vinicius Jr.
