Sun Jul 06 02:18:18 UTC 2025: ## News Article: Highway Culvert Collapses in Madhya Pradesh Due to Heavy Rains

**Narsinghpur, India – July 6, 2025** – A vital link on a State highway connecting Narsinghpur to Narmadapuram has been severed after a culvert collapsed due to incessant heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district. The incident, which occurred near Bandesur village in the Gadarwara subdivision, took place over the Sukhchain river.

According to Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP, Gadarwara) Ratnesh Mishra, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) have been immediately notified. “Due to heavy rain for the past 2-3 days, the culvert has been damaged and has collapsed,” SDOP Mishra stated.

Local authorities have taken swift action to divert traffic and prevent accidents. Heavy vehicles approaching from Gadarwara are being rerouted from Paloha Tiraha towards Tendukheda, while the Kareli police have established diversion points to halt vehicle movement near the collapsed structure. Signage and barricades are also being deployed, and personnel are being stationed to manage traffic flow.

“We have diverted all the vehicles,” SDOP Mishra confirmed, adding that residents have been urged to alert the administration immediately if they observe any signs of waterlogging or risk of further infrastructure collapse.

Authorities are working to assess the damage and initiate repair work. The incident highlights the vulnerability of infrastructure to extreme weather events and underscores the need for robust maintenance and proactive measures to mitigate potential risks.
