**Nellore, Andhra Pradesh – July 6, 2025** – Following directives from Education Minister Nara Lokesh, two children previously begging on the streets of Nellore have been granted admission to the recently renovated V.R. High School. The move came after the children expressed their desire to attend school to Municipal Commissioner Y.O. Nandan, despite admissions being closed due to full capacity.

Minister Lokesh, responding to the situation, posted on social media platform ‘X’: “I was moved by the request of two children. I instructed the officials to make all necessary arrangements for the same.” He emphasized the importance of education as a means to overcome poverty, promising support to the children in achieving their dreams.

District officials located the children and facilitated their enrollment. Lokesh has also ordered a wider search for child laborers and children begging in the city, pledging government support and facilities to ensure they receive an education.

MA&UD Minister Ponguru Narayana, instrumental in the school’s renovation, echoed Lokesh’s sentiment and further directed officials to identify and enroll more children begging on the roadside. He also instructed secretariat staff to counsel parents involved in begging with their children, highlighting the significance of education.
