**Americans Celebrate Independence Day, Businesses Adjust Hours**

As Americans gear up for fireworks and barbecues to celebrate the 249th anniversary of Independence Day this Friday, July 4th, residents should be aware of adjusted business hours and closures. The holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, is a federal holiday, leading to closures for many government offices, banks, and other businesses.

For those planning last-minute shopping trips, major retailers like Target, Walmart, Kroger stores (including Fred Meyer, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Ralphs, and QFC), Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Food Lion will remain open, although hours may vary by location. Trader Joe’s will close early at 5 p.m., while ALDI stores will shut their doors at 4 p.m. Sam’s Club will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club members. However, Costco warehouses will be closed for the holiday.

Department stores such as TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls will be open until 8 p.m., while Nordstrom, JCPenney, and Macy’s will operate under normal business hours. Discount stores like Dollar General and Dollar Tree will also be open, though hours may vary. Beauty retailers Sephora and Ulta Beauty will remain open.

CVS and Walgreens stores and pharmacies will be open, although some may operate on reduced hours. Rite Aid will remain open as usual. It’s advisable to check individual store websites or call local establishments for the most accurate hours.

Financial institutions will also be impacted. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will be closed. As July 4th is a Federal Reserve banking holiday, most bank branches will be closed, though online banking services and ATMs will remain available.

The United States Postal Service will not be picking up or delivering mail, and UPS will also suspend most services, except for UPS Express Critical. Most FedEx services will be closed, with FedEx Custom Critical remaining open for time-sensitive deliveries.

Nonessential government offices, including the DMV and public libraries, will be closed.

Consumers are encouraged to confirm operating hours with their local retailers and restaurants before heading out to avoid any inconvenience. The CNN staff wishes everyone a safe and happy Independence Day.
