**Vikarabad, July 5, 2025:** A boating trip turned tragic at Sarpanpally Lake near the Wilderness Resort in Vikarabad this Saturday afternoon, resulting in the drowning of two women from Patna, Bihar. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM when sudden rain and strong winds caused their boat to capsize.
The victims have been identified as Ritha Kumari, 53, and Punam Singh, both residents of Patna. According to Vikarabad police, the women were accompanied by their granddaughters, a three-and-a-half-year-old and a one-and-a-half-year-old, along with a boat operator, when the incident occurred.
“The families had arrived at the resort from Hyderabad earlier in the day and were reportedly having tea before heading to the lake,” stated a police officer.
Shortly after the boat entered the water, the weather deteriorated rapidly, leading to the capsize. Family members immediately rushed to help, successfully rescuing the two young girls. However, Ritha Kumari and Punam Singh lost consciousness in the water and were unable to be revived.
