**Mettur Dam Nears Full Capacity Amidst Heavy Rainfall**

**Salem, India – July 5, 2025** – The Stanley Reservoir in Mettur is rapidly approaching its full capacity for the second time this year due to significant rainfall in its catchment areas. As of 4:00 PM today, the water level stood at 119.93 feet, just shy of its full capacity of 120 feet, with a storage level of 93.35 tmc ft against the full capacity of 93.47 tmc ft.

Inflow into the dam has steadily increased throughout the day. Starting at 35,860 cusecs at 8:00 AM, it surged to 53,027 cusecs by 4:00 PM. In response, authorities have increased the discharge into the River Cauvery for delta irrigation to 40,000 cusecs, up from 30,000 cusecs. Water discharge for canal irrigation remains steady at 500 cusecs.

Water Resources Department officials anticipate the dam will reach its full capacity of 120 feet later tonight. Once this level is reached, all inflow will be released for delta irrigation purposes. The dam previously reached full capacity on June 29th. The public is advised to stay informed and follow any safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
