Fri Jul 04 22:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Diamondbacks Look to Even Record Against Royals Before All-Star Break
**PHOENIX, AZ** – The Arizona Diamondbacks will kick off a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals tonight at Chase Field, hoping to even their season record before the All-Star break. After a disappointing split with the San Francisco Giants, the D-backs stand at 43-44, a missed opportunity after winning the first two games against their NL West rivals.
While the Arizona offense has been producing runs, scoring 41 in the last eight games, they’ve only managed two wins in that stretch. Eugenio Suarez has been a bright spot, continuing his hot streak with a solo home run in Thursday’s loss. He now has 27 homers this season and is batting .361 with six homers and 12 RBIs in his past 12 games.
Eduardo Rodriguez (3-4, 5.13 ERA) will take the mound for Arizona, facing off against Kansas City’s Kris Bubic (6-6, 2.25). Rodriguez is 4-2 with a 4.09 ERA in 10 career starts against the Royals, last facing them in 2023 while with the Detroit Tigers. Bubic will be making his first career start against Arizona.
The Royals are also looking to turn things around after a 3-9 stretch. They are coming off a come-from-behind victory against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, fueled by a three-run seventh inning. However, catcher Salvador Perez left the game with a tight calf, and his availability for Friday’s game is uncertain. Bobby Witt Jr. continues his strong play, hitting .289 with a team-best slugging percentage of .488 and setting a Royals record with a 23-game road hitting streak.
The series presents a crucial opportunity for the Diamondbacks to build momentum heading into the All-Star break. First pitch is scheduled for [Time] tonight.
