**Delhi University to Begin Second Phase of Admission Process Next Week**

**NEW DELHI, July 5, 2025 (The Hindu) –** Delhi University (DU) announced today that it will launch the second phase of its admission process through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal within the coming week. This announcement follows the release of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results.

The admission process is divided into two phases. The first phase, which began on June 17 and is still underway, requires applicants to register on the CSAS portal. In the second phase, students will be able to select their preferred colleges and programs via the CSAS dashboard. The university has not yet set a specific date for the commencement of the second phase.

DU is offering a total of 71,624 undergraduate seats across its 69 colleges and departments. A significant portion of seats, 1,347 in total, has been allocated under the extracurricular activities (ECA) quota, encompassing 14 diverse categories.

University officials are urging prospective applicants to complete the first phase registration as soon as possible and begin preparing their list of preferred programs and colleges. DU also advised applicants to monitor the online admission portal for updates and to make informed decisions when filling in their choices in Phase II.

To ensure a smoother admission process, DU will issue simulated ranks before the first round of seat allocation, allowing students to assess their chances and revise their preferences. Seat allocation will be based on students’ preferences, merit, seat availability, and category.

After allocation, students must accept the seat to be considered for subsequent rounds of upgrades.

This year, DU aims to start the academic session on August 1st, a departure from last year’s delayed start due to late CUET results. The university hopes to ensure a smoother and more timely admission process by initiating the second phase swiftly after the CUET results.
