**London, England** – Two of the last three Wimbledon champions, Elena Rybakina and Barbora Krejcikova, booked their spots in the third round at the All England Club on Thursday, though their paths to victory differed significantly.
2022 champion Elena Rybakina, seeded No. 11, dominated her match against Maria Sakkari, securing a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 victory on No. 1 Court. Despite a brief wobble at the start of the second set, Rybakina quickly regained control, displaying powerful serving and accurate groundstrokes to overpower her Greek opponent. “I think I was playing well on the baseline,” Rybakina commented, adding that she found a better rhythm on her serve as the match progressed.
Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova, seeded No. 17, faced a tougher challenge on No. 2 Court against American Caroline Dolehide. After dropping the first set in her previous match, Krejcikova was stretched to three sets again, eventually prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Krejcikova admitted to a difficult match in challenging conditions. She was particularly pleased with her performance in the final set, where she minimized errors and capitalized on break point opportunities.
Rybakina’s next opponent will be either No. 23 seed Clara Tauson of Denmark or Anna Kalinskaya. Krejcikova faces a potentially tricky encounter against No. 10 seed Emma Navarro.
