**Prominent Businessman Gunned Down in Patna, Police Suspect Jail Conspiracy**
**Patna, Bihar -** A prominent Patna businessman, Gopal Khemka, was brutally murdered Friday night in a shocking act of violence that has shaken the city. Khemka was shot dead in front of his apartment complex around 11 PM as he exited his vehicle.
According to police reports, the assailants ambushed Khemka and opened fire before fleeing the scene. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Patna police are investigating a possible conspiracy originating from Beur Jail. Multiple teams have been deployed to conduct raids within the prison. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the attackers’ brazen execution of the crime.
“Based on CCTV footage and initial leads from the investigation, we are conducting raids at Beur Jail,” Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma said. “I cannot disclose more details at this time, but we are on the right track and expect to make arrests soon. The investigation suggests possible links to activities within the jail.”
The murder has drawn strong reactions from Bihar’s government officials. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has issued strict instructions to take decisive action against those who take the law into their own hands.
“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that those who take the law into their own hands will face the full force of the law,” Choudhary said. “Negligent officers will also be held accountable, with significant actions expected within the next 24 hours.” He added that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case and bring the perpetrators to justice. “The SIT will investigate every aspect thoroughly. No criminal, no matter how powerful, will be spared.”
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha echoed the sentiment, hinting at a crackdown on officials who failed to act decisively. “We are watching those officials who thrived during the ‘Jungle Raj’ era,” Sinha stated. “Those irresponsible officers who did not take strict and swift action will be held accountable. There will be bulldozer action, encounters, and property seizures.”
The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the individuals responsible for this heinous crime.
